Gender-Based Violence (GBV) remains a serious human rights and public health challenge in Cameroon, affecting women and girls through intimate partner violence, sexual violence, child marriage, and other harmful practices. The situation is further worsened by ongoing humanitarian crises, particularly in the Angloph Ending Gender-Based Violence Requires Collective Action.

Gender-Based Violence (GBV) continues to affect the lives of women and girls across Cameroon, limiting opportunities and undermining their rights, safety, and dignity. At CAMAAY, we are committed to raising awareness, empowering girls and women, supporting survivors, and engaging men and boys as allies in creating safer communities.

Through advocacy, education, community engagement, and initiatives like The Girls Corner, we provide young women with a safe space to learn, grow, build resilience, and unlock their full potential. Together with our partners, we are working towards a Cameroon where every woman and child can live free from violence.

The Cameroon Association for the Advancement of Young Women (CAMAAY) is committed to preventing and responding to GBV through advocacy, education, and community engagement. Guided by a vision of a Cameroon where every woman and child lives free from violence, CAMAAY raises awareness through media campaigns and workshops, empowers girls and women with knowledge and life skills, supports survivors through referrals to legal and psychosocial services, and engages men and boys as partners in promoting gender equality.

Working alongside government ministries, local councils, schools, community leaders, and humanitarian partners, CAMAAY drives policy advocacy and coordinated responses to gender-based violence. Through initiatives such as The Girls Corner, the organization provides a safe space where young girls can learn about personal health, relationships, leadership, economic empowerment, resilience, and life planning, helping them build the confidence and skills needed to thrive and become agents of positive change in their communities.
